Enterprise CarShare & Rideshare

In 2007, Enterprise was the first major car rental company to offer a car sharing programme across the United States. Since then, we’ve made several significant enhancements.

SHARING REDUCES MUNICIPAL FLEET SIZE, COSTS

In the United Kingdom, the City of York Council implemented an Enterprise CarShare programme as part of a plan to reduce reliance on employee-owned cars used for official business. The programme not only led to a 26 percent reduction in miles travelled, it helped curtail carbon emissions by reducing the use of employees’ ageing vehicles, which were on average six to seven years old.

EXPANDING IS BENEFICIAL

In 2011, we acquired Philly CarShare in Philadelphia and in 2012, Mint Cars On-Demand in New York City and Boston. By 2013, all programmes consolidated under the Enterprise CarShare name, offering customers convenience through flexibility, thanks to the support of the world’s largest fleet of vehicles and the largest neighbourhood network. Each of the acquired fleets were quickly integrated into our local car hire operations and upgraded with newer vehicles – increasing the size of the fleets and expanding service to new neighbourhoods to better serve customers. With all programmes being consolidated under the Enterprise CarShare name, we can offer customers reliability through flexibility, thanks to the support of the world’s largest fleet of vehicles and the largest neighbourhood network.

RIDING TO WORK, TOGETHER

By taking cars off the road, the Enterprise Rideshare van pooling programme reduces traffic congestion, commuter time and driving costs, as well as vehicle emissions and fuel consumption. A typical Enterprise Rideshare van pool programme involves five to 15 co-workers sharing, with each paying a low monthly rate. Enterprise Rideshare works especially well for companies that also have an Enterprise CarShare programme in place, thereby providing a solution for first- and last-mile transportation to and from work, and for errands during the day.
