Argyll Forest Park Chosen For Planting 70,000 Trees
In December 2009 Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced it had chosen a
number of sites in the Cowal area, Scotland, to receive 70,000 trees
through its 50 Million Tree pledge.
In collaboration with the Forestry Commission Scotland, the planting
will deliver 70,000 trees to this unique and beautiful area. The
trees will help combat soil erosion as well as rebuilding and
preserving local habitats for Scotland’s indigenous flora and fauna.
This is the second UK element of Enterprise’s 50 Million Tree
Pledge.
Diane Mulholland, Vice-President/General Manager for Enterprise
Rent-A-Car in Scotland & Northern Ireland, comments: “Our focus for
this Pledge has been on reforestation schemes because they help to
restore the natural environment and also contribute to the local
community."
Andrew Hunt, Forest Management Forester at the Forestry Commission
Scotland, adds: “Planting 70,000 locally sourced Scots Pine and
other species, such as Oak, Ash and Alder at sites like Glen Croe
will be an important contribution to our woodland restoration work
in the area. To help this new stand flourish we’ve fenced off the
area and have also removed all exotic conifer species from the
site."
